Author Talk at the LaValle Library

Date: March 28, 2026 Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Event Description
Saturday, March 28, 2026, 10:30 AM: Author Talks – Julie Fricker Porter at the LaValle Public Library, 101 W. Main Street. "Shadows of the Mountain" it is an inspirational heartwarming story about courage, commitment, sacrifice and self-discovery. It is about letting go of the past and living for the future.
Sarah, a truck driver, is an independent, free-spirited woman who has spent a lifetime alone. One day in early September, while on vacation, she drives into Talkeetna, Alaska and comes face to face with her future.
With grace and humor, Sarah embraces a lifestyle she has always shunned and finds the ability to accept in herself those things she spent years running from.
About the Author:
Having read more negative stories about truck drivers than positive ones, Julie decided it was time to write a book beneficial to the industry's image. "If we're not willing to take a stand and become the solution, then we remain part of the problem." We hope with reading this book that a greater understanding toward the trucking industry is achieved.

Julie has driven a semi-truck for 10 years. When she's not on the truck, she lives with her husband and a multitude of cars in South Central Wisconsin.
