Bugsy Malone Auditions

Date: June 11, 2013 Time: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Event Description

For its 15th season, the Children’s Summer Theater Workshop will be holding auditions for Bugsy Malone, a 1920s musical filled with rival gangs, singing, dancing and silly string on Tuesday, June 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Students in 6th through 8th grade have the chance to learn about all aspects of theater as they rehearse Bugsy Malone this summer. Beginning June 11 to July 19 on Tuesdays from 5 to 8 p.m., and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., students will sharpen their dancing, acting, and singing skills and present the final product at the CAL Center July 19, 20 at 7 p.m. and 21 at 2 p.m.

Registration and auditions will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at the Recreation Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Students do not need to have any previous experience in theater to audition. A short 20 minute parent meeting will start at 5 p.m. and a registration fee of $30 will be collected. There are scholarships available to cover the fee as well. Students will then go through various audition steps and parts will be assigned at the end of the night.

Bugsy Malone was originally a 1976 film starring Jodi Foster and is unique since it was specifically written for child actors. This action-packed gangster spoof offers many featured singing and acting roles, as well as wonderful ensemble opportunities for singing and dancing.

Bugsy Malone will offer the opportunity to learn about a fascinating and historically important decade in music history,” director Drake Lewerenz said.
