Ho-Chunk History, Wisconsin at the Reedsburg Library

Event Description
The Reedsburg Area Historical Society in partnership with the Reedsburg Library and Sauk County Historical Society is hosting two presentations on Ho-Chunk history. This first one features Patty Loew & Janice Rice who will talk about the Ho-Chunk Nation in Wisconsin at the Reedsburg Library.

Patty Loew, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research at Northwestern University and a professor in the Medill School of Journalism. She is a member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. She is author of Indian Nations of Wisconsin: Histories of Endurance and Renewal and Native People of Wisconsin.

Janice Rice is a member of theHo-Chunk Nation and is a retired librarian with a focus on American Indian resources, literature, culture, history, language preservation and revitalization. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education, with an Area of Concentration in American Indian Studies form the UW-Milwaukee. She received her MLS & MLS Advanced degree in American Indian Librarianship from UW-Madison.

The second presentation will take place Thursday, May 23 at 7 PM at the Reedsburg Library. Paul Wolter, SCHS Executive Director will focus on Ho-Chunk history in Sauk County.
