WWI Medic Connie Klippel Presentation by Darrel Hanold at the Library
Date: November 11, 2024
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Event Description
The Reedsburg Library invites you to join local historian Darrel Hanold who will give a presentation about World War I Medic Connie Klippel. Born in 1892 in Mauston, Klippel volunteered for service with the Wisconsin National Guard in June 1917 in Racine. He would ultimately become a medic with Ambulance Company #127, 107th Sanitary Train, 32nd Division.
After the war, Klippel settled in Wonewoc and wrote a column for the Wonewoc Reporter, “The Cavalier,” which told of his experiences in the “War to End All Wars.” Much of Hanold’s research comes from the columns. Hanold has been a local history buff and researcher since spearheading a bicentennial project in 1976.
