| Oct 24 - Nov 18 Reedsburg National Bank-Food Pantry Challenge |
The Reedsburg National Bank is participating in its Seventh Annual Food Pantry Challenge. Branches of The Baraboo National Bank are competing to see which one can collect the most donations for their respective pantries. Reedsburg National Bank is asking the community to help them beat Portage, Baraboo, and Lake Delton by donating items to their office which will then be delivered to the Reedsburg Food Pantry. The contest started October 24th and will run thru November 18th. Over the past six years, The Baraboo National Bank has been able to donate over 26,000 items and $22,000 due to the help of our surrounding communities! "An Evening with Matthew Desmond", Reedsburg Public Library, 370 Vine Street, Reedsburg. This year's UW-Madison Go Big Read book selection is Evicted by Matthew Desmond, a look at housing instability through the experiences of families and individuals in Milwaukee. Desmond, a UW-Madison alum and recipient of the 2015 MacArthur "Genius" grant, is a sociologist and urban ethnographer who currently serves as Associate Professor in Social Sciences at Harvard University. Evicted is a really powerful book and a very timely subject. Camping For Cans- Reedsburg Boy Scouts Troop 247 In Front of Viking Village Foods - Reedsburg. Our local Boy Scout Troop 247 - Reedsburg, WI along with their leader, Julus Paul, will be camping out in front of our store. Make sure to mark your calendar and stop by with non-perishable items for a donation. All items collected will be donated to the local food pantry. Viking Village Grocery matches donations item for item in the food drive. Filled carts keep the food pantry stocked. Spending 24 hours in the cold promoting Homelessness Awareness and Collecting Food for the Food Pantry. This is their Troop's version of Scouting for Food! They will also have a brat stand with 1/2 the funds going to a local homeless shelter. Food and Cash donations stay right here in Reedsburg to help those in need! This camp is COLD! Dress warm, bring an extra sleeping bag! Some boys opt to stay up all night "begging" for food. Last camping for cans collected 2,221 food items! Let's beat that goal!
Camp is free but we ask each Scout family to bring at least 12 food items to get us started! Parents welcome to camp as well!
