Jun 1 - Jun 2    National Trails/State Park/Fishing Open House Weekend
There will be free fishing and free admittance to Wisconsin State Parks this weekend as the DNR holds its annual Free Weekend on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2nd. The first weekend in June offers ample opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors in Wisconsin. Admission stickers are waived for Wisconsin's state parks and forests, trail passes normally required for those 16 or older who bike, in-line skate or horseback ride on state trails are waived and no fishing licenses are needed to fish state waters. People who camp at state parks still need to pay for their campsites, and fees are not waived at Heritage Hill State Park, which is operated by a non-profit organization that charges a per-person admission to the park.
Wisconsin law requires those who use Wisconsin ATV or UTV trails to display either Wisconsin registration or a Non-resident Trail Pass, but on Free Fun Weekend. ATV-UTV owners do not need to have their machines registered in Wisconsin and nonresidents do not need to have a trail pass.
Find parks, forests and trails by searching the Department of Natural Resources website for "find a park" and find events by searching for "Get Outdoors," and then click on the "type" button and select "Free Fun Weekend".

Jun 1    Plenke's Pond Kids Fishing Clinic
This park is designated for those under 16 years old, the handicapped and the elderly. Donated by Ken Plenke, this pond provides a great fishing experience. The Reedsburg Outdoor Club & Plenke's Pond Association sponsor a fishing clinic at this pond which has had great turnouts over the years. This clinic provides kids ages 6-12 with hands-on fishing (bring your own rod and reel), casting instruction and contest, fishing laws and identification and fishing and boating seminars. Door prizes, live bait and lunch provided. Adults and children are welcome to come the first Saturday in June at Plenke's pond.

Live Music, Corey Mathew Hart at The Vault, 170 E. Main Street, Reedsburg. From the time Corey Mathew Hart started singing at a young age, his voice has amazed audiences. "The human voice is such a wonderfully complex instrument. So often, words can fail to portray the whole meaning or idea you are trying to get across, but in song, you can convey more emotion and add more depth and dimension to the written word," says Hart. He does just that with his voice and songs that earned him two MAMA's (Madison Area Music Association Awards) in 2011. Needless to say, Corey Mathew Hart is turning heads both locally and nationally!

Enjoy an exciting day trip to Galena, Illinois with University of Wisconsin-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County Instructor Lisa Thomas. Bus departs Reedsburg ShopKo at 7 am and returns at 7 pm. Beautiful Galena’s historic Main Street, named “Best Main Street in the Midwest” by Midwest Living magazine, curves past nearly 100 19th-century storefronts. Galena looks much as it did during the time of the Civil War, although now the historic red brick buildings are home to charming boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. We will begin our day at the Ulysses S. Grant home to learn how a group of citizens gave their war hero a home. We will then visit Old Market House to learn more about Grant and Galena, which will help you in your next adventure of shopping and eating in downtown Galena. You will explore on your own and take in all you can of this beautiful city for half of the day. We will end our day at the Galena Museum.

Learn what conditions lead to severe weather in the Upper Midwest, how atmospheric ingredients come together to produce it, good resources to be prepared for it and visual cues when viewing storms. Basics of instability, shear, atmospheric capping and vorticity will be explained in order to provide an understanding of how thunderstorms work and how they produce tornadoes, hail and strong straight-line winds. Jun 12    Summer Library Program Kick-Off
 
Reedsburg Public Library, 370 Vine Street, Reedsburg,  Summer Youth Reading Program, "A Universe of Stories" will be starting. As in past years, youth may participate in one of three reading incentive programs, "Little Lunars," "Shooting Stars" or "Teen Titans." This summer, the two older groups are challenged to read for three twenty minute increments each week. Weekly rewards include a "planet" stamp on the reading log, a voucher from a local business or other small prize, as well as an entry in the Grand Prize Drawing include a Lego rocket ship, a lava lamp and other prizes that are out of this world! All who complete the program will earn an envelope of coupons from area businesses, as well as a book of their choice.
 
Perennially popular programs for preschoolers such as "Junior Lunch Bunch" and "Preschool Players" are back again this year. Middle grade activities such as "Discovery Days" and "Reedsburg Readers" book clubs have been scheduled with new projects and books. Babygarten and Teen Time continue through the summer months for kids on either end of the age spectrum. Mainstays for June, July and August include Movie Mondays and Family Nights on Tuesday evenings. Reedsburg Writers will be held on Fridays, at 10 AN, with local author Tim Fox appearing as a guest at the first session.

Jun 19    Drive Thru Dinner at St John Lutheran Church

St John Lutheran Church is hosting a Drive Thru Dinner. The high school youth are raising funds for their Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp which features a backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains this summer. Meals are $10 each.

The Drive Thru Dinner will be available also on Wednesday, June 26 and July 3.

Let us do the cooking and pick up a great meal on your way to the Concert in the Park or for your favorite picnic spot.

Jun 19    Concert in the Park-The Zweifel Brothers
 

While there are many great things to do during the summer in Reedsburg, a favorite activity among the locals is attending the Concerts in the Park on Wednesday evenings in City Park. The Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce organizes this series each year because it is a wonderful community activity that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The first concert will be held on Wednesday, June 19th and features The Zweifel Brothers’ Band. Kick back and relax to polkas, waltzes and fox trots—or burn off your dinner by dancing the night away. The Zweifel Brothers’ Band has been performing since 1965.  Food, refreshments, and Farmer’s Market products will be available during the concerts.

These concerts are free and open to the public, but we depend on the generosity of sponsorships and contributions to continue this wonderful series. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy a relaxing evening under the shade trees in Reedsburg!

Derek is a genre bending singer-songwriter who found his roots in La Crosse, WI, where he briefly played in a stripped down string band.

Gritty Americana with rocky undertones and at times a pop influence that comes from being a 90's child. Derek started in a garage, but fell in love with the contemporary folk scene traveling between Wisconsin and Minnesota. Recipient of the 2014 Great River Folk Festival's Songwriter award, Derek is a self-proclaimed hobbyist, and continues to write new music and incorporate a laid-back storytelling aspect into his performance.

St John Lutheran Church is hosting a Drive Thru Dinner. The high school youth are raising funds for their Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp which features a backpacking trip in the Rocky Mountains this summer. Meals are $10 each.

The Drive Thru Dinner will be available also on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Let us do the cooking and pick up a great meal on your way to the Concert in the Park or for your favorite picnic spot.

While there are many great things to do during the summer in Reedsburg, a favorite activity among the locals is attending the Concerts in the Park on Wednesday evenings in City Park. The Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce organizes this series each year because it is a wonderful community activity that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The concert on Wednesday, June 26th features Wheelhouse.  Food, refreshments, and Farmer’s Market products will be available during the concerts.

These concerts are free and open to the public, but we depend on the generosity of sponsorships and contributions to continue this wonderful series. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy a relaxing evening under the shade trees in Reedsburg!

Join the Friends of Mirror Lake as they bring Jake’O McCluskey to the outdoor amphitheater stage as part of the Music in the Park summer concert series. Jake’O is a 25-year-old-soul with the spirit of an aged blues man and talent of a seasoned rocker. He consistently amazes his audiences with his modern-retro originals and his eclectic arrangements of blues, rock 'n' roll, and R&B.

Event is free, but we pass the hat for free will donations. A valid park vehicle sticker is required to enter the park. Bring your own chairs or sit on our rock seating. Bug spray is suggested.

The Vault Bar & Lounge features Live Music with Sam Lyons. Sam Lyons is a young singer/songwriter/producer from Madison, Wisconsin. He grew up in a musical family playing guitar, bass, piano and writing music since the age of 9. He has released 5 full length albums, 2 EP's and many singles. His most recent project "The Detroit Sessions" Won 2019 Madison Area Music Award (MAMA) for "Best Pop/R&B Album".
