Monday, July 29, 2019: Reedsburg Area Helping Hands is Collecting School Supplies for children in the Reedsburg School District thru Labor Day-Sept 3rd. Look for donation boxes in many of the Reedsburg businesses & churches or call Rita Mead (608) 524-2522 to arrange for pick up. RAHH representative will make sure donations will be taken to the School Administration Office. All donations stay in the Reedsburg School District. Please help us meet the needs of underprivileged children is our Reedsburg schools.

Registration for ALL students will be held at Reedsburg Area High School on Thursday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 6 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Doors will open promptly at 1:00 p.m. each day.

At registration, you will complete and update paperwork, pay fees, make food service deposits and students will have school photos taken. Please bring parent/guardian information, emergency contact information, a list of medications and/or allergies, and payment for all fees.

The 5th Annual Reedsburg Triathlon is scheduled for Friday August 2nd. This year we are hosting just the youth event. It will be chip timed with awards to the top 3 in each age division 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-13, and 14-15. The bike courses for the older groups had to change this year due to road construction. The Friends of Mirror Lake State Park invite you for a Echo Rock and Ishnala Trail Hike(2.4 miles). Meet at the Amphitheater. Travel back in time to learn how Mirror Lake was formed. Explore the wildflowers, smell the fresh pine trees, walk through the cool Ishnala Gorge. Learn about the human history of the park, who lived in and around the park, before it was a park. Let's see if we can find some cool bugs and creatures and birds as well.

Worship Service & Summer Movie Saturday August 3rd. Yes, that’s right, we will be having an outdoor worship service Saturday, August 3rd, at 5pm. at the Loganville Village Park! 

Following Worship service our Youth will serve BBQ, hotdogs, chips, & lemonade/fruit punch drink.  There will be a free will offering with the proceeds going towards the 2021 ELCA youth gathering.  We will have outdoor games and activities for all.

Then at dusk we will be featuring the movie “A Dog’s Purpose”.  The snack shack will also be open  with proceeds also going towards the 2021 ELCA Youth Gathering  We request you bring your favorite lawn chair, blanket for later and join the fellowship and fun.  If it rains everything will be in the church.  If you have any questions feel free to contact; Diane Geffert, Karen Judd, Stefanie Judd or Sue Wobschall.

Join the Friends of Mirror Lake as they bring Spook Handy to the outdoor amphitheater stage as part of the Music in the Park summer concert series. Spook is an internationally-touring folk musician from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Concert is free, but we pass the hat for a free will donation. A valid park sticker is required to enter the park. Bring your own chairs or sit on the amphitheater rock seating. Bug spray recommended.

The UW-Extension is offering four 4-H Cloverbud Day Camps this summer for youth in K-2nd grade as of September 2018. They're open to both 4-H and non 4-H members! Each session is limited to the first 12 paid youth. Day camps may be subject to cancellation if less that 5 youth register. 

Session 3: The Problem of Pollution. Join us for a flaura-fauna identification scavenger hunt, participate in activities to learn more about protecting our environment, and try your hand at making paper! Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle!

The UW-Extension is offering four 4-H Cloverbud Day Camps this summer for youth in K-2nd grade as of September 2018. They're open to both 4-H and non 4-H members! Each session is limited to the first 12 paid youth. Day camps may be subject to cancellation if less that 5 youth register.

While there are many great things to do during the summer in Reedsburg, a favorite activity among the locals is attending the Concerts in the Park on Wednesday evenings in City Park. The Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce organizes this series each year because it is a wonderful community activity that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The concert on Wednesday, August 7th features Copper Box.  This talented group draws inspiration from many types of Americana, roots music and beyond, resulting in a distinctive musical melting pot that is easy on the ears and good for the soul. Food, refreshments, and Farmer’s Market products will be available during the concerts.

These concerts are free and open to the public, but we depend on the generosity of sponsorships and contributions to continue this wonderful series. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy a relaxing evening under the shade trees in Reedsburg!

While there are many great things to do during the summer in Reedsburg, a favorite activity among the locals is attending the Concerts in the Park on Wednesday evenings in City Park. The Reedsburg Area Chamber of Commerce organizes this series each year because it is a wonderful community activity that is enjoyed by people of all ages. The concert on Wednesday, August 14th features the Reedsburg Community Band. This band is comprised of musicians of all ages and skill levels who come together over the summer months for a few special performances. Their music spans the decades and leaves you wanting more! Food, refreshments, and Farmer’s Market products will be available during the concerts.

These concerts are free and open to the public, but we depend on the generosity of sponsorships and contributions to continue this wonderful series. Bring your lawn chair or blanket, and enjoy a relaxing evening under the shade trees in Reedsburg!

Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs are showcased in buildings all over the world. We are so fortunate to live in Wisconsin were we have access to many of his impressive structures. We’ll begin with a guided tour of the First Unitarian Society Meeting House (picture) in Madison. Completed just a few years before Wright’s death, this building has been named one of the world’s most innovative examples of church architecture.

Our next stop will be the Wright designed Monona Terrace in Madison where we will enjoy a docent lead tour followed by an included lunch at the Terrace’s Lake Vista Rooftop Café.

To conclude we’ll travel to Taliesin, Wright’s 800-acre estate overlooking the Wisconsin River near Spring Green. Among the most famous residences in the United States, Taliesin embodies Wright’s energy, technique, and creative vision. The house stands as the longest on-going project of Wright’s career. The two-hour house tour will guide us through rooms that Wright imagined and built (famed living room, garden room, loggia, bedroom, studio, etc.), and the outdoor courtyards and gardens. Moderate to significant walking with managing a few steps and walking on uneven grounds is required.

Auditions for "Drinking Habits" will be held at the Reedsburg Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, August 24 at 10:30 a.m.  Roles are available for 5 women and 3 men.  
 
Drinking Habits is a classic American farce by Tom Smith.  "Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open...". Secrets, lies, romance, and mistaken identities lead to desperately crazy antics as the Sisters strive to preserve their convent home. Director Linda Champagne  encourages new actors and actresses to attend. 
 
Performances are on October 9, 10, and 12 at the Reedsburg Country Club

Aug 24    A Swift Night Out

A Swift Night Out at the Old School Art Asylum, 308 W Maple St, Lime Ridge. Watch Chimney swifts roost. During the summer, over one hundred Chimney Swifts use the brick chimney at the old school in Lime Ridge for their nightly roost.

As summer ends, the birds gather and prepare for their migration to South America. A Swift Night Out is a continent-wide effort to raise awareness about Chimney Swifts and their need for roosting habitat. Learn about the birds as Sandy Schwab, Wisconsin Chimney Swift Working Group, gives a short presentation and watch the birds as they descend into the chimney at dusk.

You may want to bring your lawn chair and binoculars if you have them. Snacks by The Wormfarm. Live music by Rollck & Roma, Tory Tepp/The Earthtones, and Richard Shuman.

The Reedsburg Outdoor Club is holding an Open House to view the new Dry Fire System. This is a new projected shooting system to help train new shooters and assist in gun safety. Demonstrations will be available and guests will be invited to try out the simulated trap shooting system. There will be no live firing of shells on this system and all of the shooting is indoors. 
 
The newly opened Archery Broadhead Course will be ready for shooters also. Anyone wishing to check out this course and practice archery for the upcoming season is invited to check out our new shooting option. Beverages and hot sandwiches will be available.

The Friends of Mirror Lake State Park invite you for a Echo Rock and Ishnala Trail Hike(2.4 miles). Meet at the Amphitheater. Travel back in time to learn how Mirror Lake was formed. Explore the wildflowers, smell the fresh pine trees, walk through the cool Ishnala Gorge. Learn about the human history of the park, who lived in and around the park, before it was a park. Let's see if we can find some cool bugs and creatures and birds as well.
